Are Computer and Technology Stocks Lagging Advantest (ATEYY) This Year?
Here is how Advantest Corp. (ATEYY) and Meta Platforms (META) have performed compared to their sector so far this year.
Essential Japanese Semi Companies For The Reshoring Age
The global COVID-19 pandemic has led to a shift towards reshoring in the semiconductor industry as supply chains are disrupted and geopolitical tensions rise. Reshoring efforts are leading to increased capex spending by semiconductor companies, benefiting equipment suppliers. Japan is heavily investing in semiconductor manufacturing, with companies like Tokyo Electron, Disco Corporation, and Advantest set to benefit from the reshoring trend.

I would like to introduce our attendees today.
Advantest: A Tough Quarter But Expect A Strong Recovery
Advantest, the world's largest Automated Test Equipment (ATE) maker, will benefit strongly from high performance AI semiconductor demand. AI chips require more complex levels of testing. Advantest has several competitive advantages of strong relationships and partnerships with GPU makers.
Advantest: The AI Hype Is Here (Rating Downgrade)
Advantest Corporation's stock price has increased by 56% in the past three months, possibly partly due to the AI hype and Nvidia's recent Q1 FY2024 earnings report. The company's Q4 FY2022 earnings report showed revenue growth but declining margins, and FY2023 guidance predicts a decline in revenue and net income. I believe Advantest might still be fairly valued at around ¥15,000 ($106.98) per share, but with the current price exceeding this number, I have to change my rating from strong buy to hold.
Teradyne And Advantest: A Duopoly In The Semiconductor Value Chain
Teradyne and Advantest dominate the semiconductor test equipment market with a combined market share of around 95%. I expect both companies to grow in line with the overall semiconductor market (6-8% CAGR) until 2030.
